Second in our series of what sustainability means to the CLOVO™ interns is Heidi's, a graphic design intern, perspective:
To me, sustainability means doing what we can to preserve our environment. Especially in these times, it should be our duty as humans to work together to preserve our natural resources to avoid the depletion of our natural resources. The purpose of preserving our natural resources is to maintain the quality of life in our current societies. More specifically in fashion, it is important to repurpose some of our pieces instead of just disposing of them. It is important that we understand how textiles are making the clothes that we are making and how soon they are reaching landfills. It is becoming more popular to thrift your clothes as it is better for the environment because it does not cause the production of more products. Second-hand shopping is a way for an article of clothing to get more life instead of going to a landfill. Fast Fashion is a big problem in the industry because trends are always changing all the other clothing that were mass produced in a short amount of time go all to waste.
